Laparoscopic excision of a very rare isolated gastric enteric duplication cyst: case report and literature review

Abstract Background Gastric duplication cysts are a very rare variant of all enteric duplications, and their isolated forms much rarer developmental anomalies in the form case reports only. In this study, 4-month-old male patient, who was diagnosed with an intra-abdominal cystic mass his antenatal examination laparoscopic excision gastric presented. Case presentation A patient born at 39 weeks gestation, 3180 g. When 37 × 17mm detected detailed ultrasonography (USG) performed 20th week examination, he followed up another center preliminary diagnosis mesenteric cyst intestinal cyst. It learned that had transient constipation vomiting history. Physical revealed mobile, smooth-surfaced 5-cm on palpation lower midline abdomen. Control lobulated contoured lesion measuring 59 30 23 mm, multilayered wall structure debris inside. laparoscopy, is thick-walled, appearance, from surrounding tissues. observed it attached to sigmoid colon mesentery handle. The thick peduncle containing feeding vessels closed cut, preserving mesentery. Thick mucoid contents were aspirated percutaneous needle. shrinking removed abdomen by enlarging working opening 5 mm. macroscopic appearance consistent fed orally 2nd hour postoperatively discharged 10th hour. pathological due type lining epithelium. No recurrence or additional pathology control 6-month follow-up postoperatively. Conclusion Laparoscopic exploration should be considered as first surgical option asymptomatic, growing masses cysts. advantages laparoscopy can make important contributions management.
